Expertise
All structured assessments are carried out by a multidisciplinary team. Your assessment will include a Clinical Psychologist, in addition to a combination of the following professionals; Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and an independent Consultant Paediatrician.
Our clinicians have specialist training and expertise in specific neurodevelopmental assessments. Every member of our team is fully qualified and accredited/governed by a professional body. Each clinician has also worked, or currently works within NHS services alongside their work with Autism Assessment UK. The team are able to carry out ‘complex assessments’- where other things might be going on for the person or family being assessed.
Though some people are taking up assessments through the ‘right to choose’ framework, these are not suitable for everyone. They are often offered remotely and are not sensitive enough / appropriate for some families.
Upfront clear costing
There are no hidden costs within our assessment process. We have a set fee for each type of service, and if further assessments or appointments are needed for the purpose of a diagnostic decision, these are usually carried out at no additional charge. Other companies may start off with a lower fee for an initial consultation and/or it may not be clear what the final cost will be.
Face to Face observations
We offer an observation using what is considered to be the ‘gold standard’ assessment tool, the ADOS-2. This is offered face to face, the standardised format.
Small friendly local team
We are a small and approachable local team with knowledge relevant to the local area. We are happy to answer any questions and will get to know you as well as possible as part of the assessment
Bespoke reports
You will receive lengthy reports. These reports can help other care providers understand why conclusions have been drawn/ recommendations made. The reports are written in an understandable and professional manner.
Free follow up
We also offer a complementary follow up session with a Clinical Psychologist as part of our assessment package. This is to ensure you feel supported post assessment and to help with strategies.
