If you have concerns that you or your family member may have Autism you can be referred for an assessment through the NHS. Usually, this involves visiting your GP to discuss your concerns and requesting an onwards referral. In some areas you can make a self-referral.
Right to Choose is an NHS initiative meaning you can ask for a referral to your preferred provider for an assessment, rather than waiting for an NHS assessment. There are still waiting lists for this and the right to choose assessment would replace any potential NHS assessment. To request this you can visit your GP. We do not offer Right to Choose assessments at AAUK currently.
In our experience people seek a self-funded assessment for the following reasons;
Timely assessment; Unfortunately, there are extremely long waiting lists for NHS assessment in many parts of the UK, which a several years long. There are also waiting lists through Right to Choose
