Expert autism assessment and advice for children and adults

Services

Initial contact- 30 minutes complementary

After you make contact with us we will send some questionnaires to you. We offer a free, brief screening to consider what type of assessment (if any) would be right for your family. Questionnaires help to inform this conversation.

This is the first step for any assessment.

Psychological assessment – £550

This service is suitable for people who wish to explore whether their strengths, difficulties and life experiences may be indicative of an autism profile. This can be helpful when deciding whether or not to proceed with a full diagnostic assessment. At the end of the appointment we can discuss whether or not what we see/ hear may fit with Autism. Please note that this service is not a formal diagnostic assessment for Autism.

Our consultation service is also suitable for people who are not wishing to explore whether they have Autism, but would like a safe space to explore what factors may have led to and/or be maintaining psychological and emotional distress. At the end of this appointment, we will talk you through a shared psychological formulation and suggest ways forward. This appointment would be with a Clinical Psychologist.

Full Diagnostic Autism assessment – £2700

It is important that an Autism assessment follows a particular format. The assessment process will always consist of at least two assessment appointments;

  • A standardised developmental history
  • A standardised observation.

It is also essential for us to have contact with school, if the person being assessed is still in education. If this is the case, a representative from school will be asked to complete some questionnaires. From time to time other types of appointments will also be needed. This can include a cognitive assessment, language assessment or another observation. Feedback appointments are always offered to discuss our understanding and diagnosis when appropriate.

Learning Disability assessment £500-£1200

It is important that a learning disability assessment follows a structured format. This is so it meets guidance in diagnostic criteria. This can be undertaken as part of an Autism assessment or standalone.

  • A cognitive assessment. This is usually using the Weschler scales (WPPSI, WISC- V or WAIS IV). This assessment helps us to understand more about how your brain manages information.
  • An adaptive skills assessment. This is usually using the ABAS-3 (Adaptive Behaviour Assessment System, third edition). It is helpful if this can be completed by someone who knows you well. For example a parent/ guardian or teacher. This helps us to understand how easy or difficult you find everyday tasks (like self-care or managing money).
  • A detailed developmental history with you and/ or a family member, if not already completed as part of an autism assessment.
