Brief info

Claire qualified as a Speech and Language Therapist at City University, London in 2011. Once qualified, she worked in Hackney for two years with children with a range of communication difficulties in schools and nurseries. Claire then worked in Salford for five years, specialising in working with young people with social communication difficulties and Autism.

Claire has worked for a local NHS trust and private companies in recent years within the Autism Assessment Team. This role involves working as part of a multidisciplinary team to assess and diagnose young people with Autism Spectrum Disorder. As part of this work, Claire has run the ‘Cygnet’ programme for parents of children who have received a diagnosis of Autism and she has been involved in developing a pilot intervention group for teenagers who have recently received a diagnosis of Autism.

Claire has attended relevant training in order to administer the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS) and Brief Observation of Symptoms of Autism (BOSA) and to work as part of a multidisciplinary assessment team. She has also received training on supportive interventions for children with social communication needs, including VERVE, 'Attention Autism' and 'Lego Therapy'.
