Speech and Language Therapist
Brief info

Claire qualified as a Speech and Language Therapist in 2006. She has extensive experience of working with children, young people, adults and their families, using specialist skills in assessing and supporting people with a range of speech, language and communication differences and needs including Developmental Language Disorder, Selective Mutism, Autism, Speech Disorder, and Learning Disability.

She is trained in the use of the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS), the Autism Diagnostic Interview Revised, and the Developmental, Dimensional and Diagnostic Interview.

Claire currently works in a Neurodevelopmental Service as part of a multidisciplinary team, providing autism assessments and post diagnostic support. Additionally, Claire delivers sessions to students on the Improving Access to Psychological Therapies course.

She has developed training packages for parents and professionals in relation to speech, language and communication needs, and she has skills in using a solution focussed therapy approach and a range of support strategies such as Attention Autism, Intensive Interaction, Shape Coding Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Picture Exchange Communication System, and the National Autistic Society’s framework for understanding and responding to the needs of autistic children and adults.
